HISTORICAL CHRISTIAN BELIEFS
We affirm five confessional statements called the watchwords of the Reformation. These five statements are imperative in historical Christian belief.
•soli deo Gloria
1. sola Scriptura – Scripture alone
The Bible alone is sole authority and is sufficient for all belief and practice.
2. solus Christus – Christ alone
He alone has done the necessary work for salvation plus nor minus nothing.
3. sola gratia – Grace alone
Salvation is not by good works but by grace alone. This grace is certainly
4. sola fide – Faith alone
Justification is by faith alone. The ground of justification is the work of Christ.
5. soli deo Gloria – Glory to God alone
The four other declarations are all connected to the glory of God alone.
